very cinematic, tunnel visioned & on-going arpeggiated synth-techno in two versions by stiletti-ana (half of jesse from last years twotinos lp on keys of life). a-side with steady kick and feedbacked percussions riding through a deep, analogic, cloudy and live drummed landscape. b-side highlights the scope with no drums, except the ever lasting cymbals.

norwegian under-the-radar collective oblivion dip repeats the expo of very well executed ambient/noise tracks juxtaposed with a variety of deep techno.

ismo laakso s very well produced and spaceously mixed ofelia (from 1996-99) is a blend of industrial, avant garde, modern classic, bleeps and clicks. the narrative of this album sometimes undefinably blurs the lines between recorded material & samples, and also juxtapose the main grooves with highly psychedelic sound effects and (beautiful) melodies.

as well as manning his own label duro, theus mago can be found slinging out heat on turbo, kill the dj and more recently ombra. the mexican producer returns to home turf for his latest transmission, serving up one original track with two killer remixes. -inertials- is a rowdy beast in its original form, tapping up a breakbeat roll, dirty wave synth stabs and plenty more sonic debris for a cut that spans a whole lot of styles and makes them gel together seamlessly. inigo vontier takes the original and makes it into a bone-rattling drum track to batter the crowd into submission very late on in the dance. jamie paton takes a different approach on the b-side, weaving a little tenderness into the mix with some elegant synth lines that offset the raw bite of the drums beautifully.

fresh from starting his own label insult to injury, timothy clerkin returns to ransom note records with the knife edge heart ep. three tracks of stirring techno for dark basements and warm hearts. timothy is a very interesting man, but hes also the sort of person whod rather let his music do the talking, so well move on swiftly. the mvp here is knife edge heart, an unabashed pop song whose shimmering exterior is cut through with flashes of steely darkness. frequent collaborator natalie reiss’ glacial voice is held at the perfect level of remove, while timothy allows his love of shoegaze to blossom with a guitar line that seems to extend like a ladder to the stars. with you bridges timothys opposing impulses, balancing sparkling synths and a celestial vocal sample with churning low-end, while divisive is paranoid warehouse techno at its very best. with his debut solo album out soon on phantasy, gabe gurnsey of factory floor stops by for a lurching, seasick remix of knife edge heart that sounds like the onset of the robot apocalypse weve all been promised for so long. after cutting his teeth as one half of eskimo twins, timothy launched his solo career in 2014 under the now-retired heretic moniker. hes since released on labels including throne of blood, hard fist and days of being wild. timothys last release on rsn was the serenade ep, which brought us plenty of special moments last year - most memorably andrew weatherall closing out his houghton quarry set with execute. heres to many more this summer and beyond.

japanese newcomer -jtt- unveils their debut vinyl on their own label yu-zen-. jtt consists of two guys, takayuki hosoda and dj java. most of their tracks are deep and micro house and nudisco music. -tone river- is one of the typical masterpieces of their tracks. it has a tense and dreamy atmosphere. it s a very simple but enough to be addicted one. -lotus root- has a mystical atmosphere. your brain can feel good unique sound effect sense. you will be into it. mastering by kuniyuki takahashi. according to his careful work these tracks have a high level of completeness.

slamming deep house with funky & disco moments
the „will you be there ep” completes the „christophe salin - ep series“. he is taking us on his musical journey and paves the way for cooperation with future artists on his very own imprint „salin records” that he runs with his wife daria salin as a platform for electronic music and art. „to love” is what it’s all about, love your next one, love yourself, love what you do, love music and art. needing a bridge at this point nothing would be sweeter than a little excursion to the french touch sound and vibes of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. so, the a-side ends up with a question „shall i give love another try“…flip side „i’ll think of you” keeps this mood until „your soul” takes us slowly over to the final declaration of love „lullaby for daria“.

we introduce comfort zone, a young producer from montreal, who has been making music for around 7 years now. he is inspired by “music from late 90s/early 00s video game soundtracks and the occasional snippets of electronic music i heard as a kid”. we find that statement very much reflected in this release, as he masters the challenge of blending mysterious samples and different styles to form harmonious compositions. on one side of the 4-track ep we have 2 groovy house tracks, reminiscent of early 2000s house by the likes of lance desardi, ian pooley and atjazz, on the other side 2 classic jungle tracks which uphold our tradition of releasing timeless music.

kid dramas sound is one thats taken giant strides in the last couple of years, first showcased in his metalheadz debut which came in the form of last years trife ep. building upon that is the addition of the enforcer ep set for release this september and consisting of 4 chunky slabs of hard-hitting drum and bass interlaced with beautiful pads and soundscapes, a combination very few successfully execute.

italian legend francesco farfa debuts on memento with “synchronicity 13”, with remix honours and duties left to m.r.e.u.x. and the analogue cops. farfa s long-lasting original track is a dancefloor skyrocket designed with skilful craftmanship. the humonguos drums and the driving bass line stockpile the explosive potential of a synthetic flock of sound, eventually becoming unwordly bloops pierced by evocative strings. the analogue cops rework the evocative potential of the original with a raw jacking grab in their “dance of the condor remix”, anchoring a biting kick drum and an highly corrosive acid bass. finally, m.r.e.u.x delivers his “green trip mix”, a very effective minimalistic reinterpretation, built on pounding rhythms and hypnotic sequences.

reworking a big tune is never a simple task, especially if after 7 years the tune in question is still one of the highlights in shows of one of the worlds most beloved live act performers, kink. that s only half of the story though, as the tune got a lot of love from so many dj s all over the globe. however, for the 17th burek release, we wanted to do something really special and what could be better than giving new life to a piece of music which literally gave life to our label. and we gathered some very interesting people for the job.

italian finest cosmic disco from the genius of no other than dodias, superb drummer, former member of gli idoli the very first band of lucio dalla, and cowriters of few of his early songs. essential!

my favorite robots next release is a very special remix by dj tennis. it initially comes as a 10 white vinyl and will then be available digitally in autumn. mfrs ‘barricade was first released on dj tenniss life and death label back in 2012. it was a huge house track that resonates to this day, so it makes sense the taste- making italian steps up to remix it. he is someone with a cultured take on brooding house and techno, as evidenced by the music he a&rs for his label as well as things like his own standout dj-kicks mix from last year. his new remix is a masterfully melancholic one that starts with a delicate ambient synth line hanging in mid air. breathy vocals eventually arrive to send shivers down the spine and finally, deep, rolling, mid tempo kicks bring a groove that carries you away into a reverie. its made all the more mournful and poignant thanks to some broad synth chords and swirling pads later on and is sure to provide a real centre point of any seriously emotional set. this is a stunning and absorbing single and another high point for my favorite robot records.

articulat is the (new) artist name of ovidiu stanciu, a romanian dj/producer living in rotterdam. under the moniker manikin, he worked on several concept albums with titles like popular mechanics, taxim and grandma s attic revival over the last couple of years. while selecting tracks for this debut ep it felt like curating a best of , and we chose to put three thriving and pounding slow-beat bangers on the a side, and to show more of articulat s versatile style on the b-side. expect experimental electronic songs inspired by themes like steampunk and romanian folklore, very precisely engineered to experience storytelling in the most physical way.

one of our most mysterious and intriguing states of consciousness is the dream. we lose consciousness when we enter the deep waters of sleep, only to regain it as we emerge into a series of uncanny private realities. through the fog of the mind we can get a glimpse of a world beyond our day to day realities that sometimes is able to show us deeper truths than those we face in awake states. roger is one of those lucid pioneers that is able to translate these experiences into sound. let him guide you through these wondrous clouds. were very happy to welcome dutch-born german-raised roger van lunteren on sohaso for the first time. his rosa dos ventos ep is a four-track story that oozes retro vibes and nostalgia for a past that never seems to have existed. utilizing raw 80’s analog synths and humanoid acid lines he sets atmospheres that remind of lynchian dreamscapes. vanish starts out with an emotional chord sequence, as you enter the fluid world of the subconscious. a gnarly bassline welcomes your arrival and lets you know things here aren’t exactly what they seem. journeying on through seemingly dark areas, it ends with a hopeful melody and the bass softens as you start feeling weightless. uncontacted uses choral pads and two intertwining 303 sequences as a way of communicating between the different dimensions. aroy dee remixing vanish is like taking a psychotropic liquid, adding more drive to the original while retaining the emotive synth patterns. sleepless is rogers hardest cut on the record, again providing directly plugged in 303 goodness and stomping beats. it rounds off a balanced ep with plenty of introspective dance material.

a new adepth audio record featuring canadian rennie foster, including a remix of nomadico (dj dex/underground resistance). the title track witch hazel is a 9 minute long track with no breakdown and a minimal approach to arrangement, with organic elements cycling in and out subtly rather than obviously beginning and ending. a rolling half time, tribal groove drives the power of the track with a haunting vocal sample and layers of percussion creating a heady, polyrhythmic hypnosis on the dance floor. not since rennie s well known devil s water has he presented such an overtly occult offering as this extremely finely crafted ep, and this song represents the initial seduction of the record to the listener very effectively. the second track, navigator, is a drum machine driven workout, again with a polyrhythmic and tribal vibe, this time drenched in a rich, holographic pad that morphs and moves in unexpected ways. minimalistic in presentation, this track is bass heavy and functional for the dj, yet artistic and emotional. the nomadico remix by dj dex of underground resistance takes the elements of witch hazel and re-constructs them in a futuristic style with a more driving kick and molten detroit attitude. a heavier techno approach to the piece, but still intact is the melancholic atmosphere of the original and siren song of the vocal sample. this mix includes a dramatic breakdown and unique arrangement familiar to fans of nomadico s awesome yaxteq label. the last track on the ep is called crossing the boundary is possibly the only track in this style to sample distorted vocals usually associated with black metal, making this a very unique, perhaps polarizing, experiment in sound. evocative of the desolation of deep space and suggestive of sonic dark matter. this track combines rennie s singular approach to dub techno with ambient and drone music and the result is like nothing else currently in existence.

up next on amsterdam’s format label is a four-tracker featuring original cuts and remixes by matrixxman, echologist and label boss juan sanchez himself.
the fourteenth format release is definitely one not to miss out on, as it offers material from some of today s most sought-after techno heads. up first is expiration, a joint effort from matrixxman and echologist. this one combines matrixxman’s signature bass and echologist’s one-of-a-kind dub techno flavors across a very trippy canvas. format’s juan sanchez follows with a dark and synth-heavy rework of the track. on fokus, juan displays a more melodic cut propelled by a playful groove. closing things off, matrixxman and echologist turn fokus into a crushing techno track filled with sweeping fx.
format continues with another strong release that’s destined to do the damage.

variable is the first compilation on pi electronics, which also kicks off the new catalogue peva. this various artists release includes the works of several artists involved in the label till now, along with some very familiar faces to pi that have been supporting the parties in the past years. the aim was to bring the main label roster - artists with original music on pi, such as jk flesh, ontal and damcase - under the same roof as artists that have been with the pi electronics project since its early days: the label s party residents, 3.14, nemmett and das along with other fellow athenians, unhuman, bmsk and the project “i am legion, for we are many”. the outcome will be available in cd, vinyl and digital format, while the vinyl sampler will feature jk flesh, ontal, nemmett and bmsk.

mindshift records is proud to present trouble12, homan square, by area featuring remix appearances by murdoc and drmlgcc, culminating in a stellar release pressed on limited-edition vinyl, out of continued respect for the vinyl medium. the release begins with dark days, a strong cut with deep kicks, hard claps, and solid basslines all combined to create a euphoric experience for both listeners and dancers. up next, a remix of alta by murdoc brings us to the next level with pulsating bass, haunting vocals and crafty syth-work, sure to please closing out the a-side very nicely. opening the b-side, we have drmlgccs remix of dark days, a bass-heavy rendition of the original, featuring unique synth pads, great percussion, and rhythmic pauses throughout the progression of the track. concluding the release is the original mix of alta, a unique composition returning us full circle and closing out the ep homan square.

afro was our first international release, and our first attempt to bring afro-peruvian music up to date in the same way as nicomedes santa cruz and others did decades ago when the fragile existence of this music was fading. we were very satisfied with the result, which is raw and acoustic but at the same time electronic. dark but soulful. deep and haunting at times. we are joined on this album by some of the finest afro-peruvian musicians on cajon, guitar and vocals giving every song a live feel and the album includes additional production on all tracks by nitin sawhney s and da lata s studio wizard toni economides.

rogue d is the new solo project from danny minchella. under this new moniker he delivers the eagerly awaited chains. set to be one of the biggest tracks of the year, its a high octane, club-ready number with abundant driving percussion. unstoppable force patrick topping is also back on home ground for the remix. chains was inspired by jamie 3:26s and cratebug’s edit of loretta holloway hit n quit - i wanted a simple, raw track, killer bassline and a soulful vocal. the process was very fast and i made the majority of the groove in one morning. i dug deep in my collection, looking for that special vocal and came across steve silk hurleys chain of fools (with aretha franklin on the original vocal), and it just made the record pop! - rogue d as an artist minchella has played some of the worlds most esteemed establishments and released on a wealth of high profile labels. he now aims to use his rogue d guise as a means to express his forward thinking and personal tastes in sound- from techno to old school garage to the sounds of detroit. he’s already released on dftd as well as providing a remix of soul claps misty on classic music company. in his relatively short career so far, label favourite patrick topping has made the cover of mixmag, won a coveted dj mag best of british award and made the resident advisor top 100 djs. hes released some of the biggest tracks on hot creations and is resident for jamie jones paradise at dc10. on his rework of chains, topping isolates the vocal and adds a tribal bounce to proceedings.

spoon is very glad to welcome gojnea aka g76 on the next release of the imprint. on a side, the romanian artist delivers with -special order nuthin- a killer trippy minimal tracks with intriguing vocals. -too intense- on the b sides shows a more soothed side of the producer

you may remember the closing of space, ibiza with carl cox when he played a bootleg of total confusion. barry obzee hobbs (rising high a&r) spent a lot of time trying to locate the remixer and finally did a few months ago. we have now signed the remix which will be released on vinyl in may and on digital in july. the story goes like this: carl cox has been playing the version at most of his shows including tomorrow land, kappa future fest and timewarp ( see video clip below) but this is where the story becomes more interesting. the remixer, rod malmok from rotterdam aka benny rodriguez, who is a very established dj producer playing for loco dice in ibiza etc and releasing on ben klock s imprint klockwork, chris liebings imprint clr, adam beyers imprint drumcode and many more was inspired to remix the track through a conversation with dubfire, rod gave him a rough copy the following day. he played it to carl cox at space, ibiza and cox begged him for a copy - see video below if you ve been around the scene for a while you will know that rising high records was one of the first labels to shape techno, hardcore and breakbeat in the uk and was huge!

and now for something completely different … cgi is extremely excited to present the proof of concept ep from shanghai-via- chicago’s osheyack. these are productions with a weight and freshness that we at cgi have not previously encountered. while on a small us tour in june 2016, osheyack played a set in atlanta and thoroughly blew everyone in the room away with a mastery of rhythm, sound, and arrangement that is uncanny. we approached osheyack after the gig for demos and what we received was as dense and inspiring as the live set. words don’t do this sound justice but it’s perhaps most fun to close your eyes and imagine a demonic cirque-du-soleil-esque techno marching band stomping through the graveyard of your dreams and resurrecting all of the wasted souls to stomp on their graves in a frenzied trance...

limited hand-stamped, the mystifying oracle blesses us with more supernatural selections ! as the spirits return to the other side, it seems they left us a goodbye gift... by turns a salvia soaked stroll through sweaty disco shamanism, an uptempo synth powered wig-flipper, backed with a disco-soca grail & a persuasively pokey paean to north africa. as usual, no info to be had, other than a cleverly plotted out ouija of the label name, some very fetching old school blue master bag sleeves & four incredible cuts of secret origin via the mystifying oracle that is mutable...

the second edition of the rose records limited 10- series comes courtesy of junktion, whose releases on the likes of outplay and slow town didn t only sell out at breakneck speed but also established him as one of holland s biggest talents in discerning deephouse/disco circles. junktion does what he does best on this delightful little platter. the lolloping running for whatever on the a is as infectious as they come, with loads of clever samples arranged over classy rolling drums and a deep, rubbery bassline. flip over for pale blue dot, a slightly tougher, trippier uptempo workout with spaced out pads, big drums, crisp hats and massive synth stabs that should whip up a real frenzy in a packed club. killer pair of tunes from a producer that s very much on top of his game.

umeko ando (1932-2004) was a folk singer from japan. she was a representative of the ainu culture on the hokkaido island in the north of japan. “ihunke” is her first album which was recorded with the ainu musician and dub producer oki kano in 2000. it was released on cd in japan only and is finally available on vinyl (2lp + linernotes, dl included). “ihunke” is following last year’s single “iuta upopo” pingipung 58, incl. m.rux remix which had been received with overwhelming enthusiasm and was quickly sold out. the 16 ainu songs on “ihunke” are delicate, natural gems. they are built on oki kano’s tonkori patterns (a 5-string harp), over which umeko ando develops her repetitive, mantric vocals, often in a call-response manner. oki kano is one of very few professional tonkori players who performs worldwide with his oki dub ainu band. the songs possess a mystical energy – when crows call accurately with ando’s brittle voice in the first song, it seems like natural powers join in with her music. her voice sounds like animals of the sky and the forest. oki kano: “it was a lot of fun to record with umeko ando. many ainu hesitate to break from tradition - if umeko hadn’t been so flexible to work with the younger generation and recording technology, this album would never have happened. our sessions were intense, and we were proud and happy about making such beautiful music.” upcoming in autumn: remixes of “ihunke” by tolouse lowtrax, m.rux, dj ground, el buho mark peters, gama, andi otto, and dreems. historical background: only recently (in 2008) have the ainu officially been acknowledged as indigenous people who are culturally independent from japan. this record is an example of how their music has been passed on through generations in the underground ainu communities while it was oppressed by the japanese hegemony. it deserves a huge audience. follow kompakt

plazmot are yovav (known for his past productions on malka tuti and correspondant records as well as being part of the infamous shame on us trio) & assaf bloom, another upcoming talent from the city that doesn’t want to sleep - tel aviv. with their debut release plazmot brings forward 2 very different tracks, showing the versatility in their productions (and amazing live shows!).

the masterful trio of timo mass, basti grub and eric volta showcase their combined musical muscle on the latest release forthcoming on supreme berlin imprint, mobilee. with an impressive remix package featuring rodriguez jr. and tiefschwarz. over two years in the making, ‚we were riding high‘ is a lucid after-hours track with an uplifting and catchy vocal hook that unfolds and develops fluidly. the alternative edit utilises dark synths and drums, retaining the positivity that make this track perfect for the last summer month. this record is the result of eric volta making the demo at an after-party at his studio. he then showed this to timo mass who in turn showed it to basti grub who loved the track so much, they were inspired to develop it. two time grammy nominated timo maas has an extensive musical background, spanning over thirty years. he’s worked with some of the world’s biggest stars including madonna, depeche mode and fatboy slim. basti grub heads up his own label, höhenregler, and is known for his exotic, african-influenced productions. he’s released on some premium labels including cocoon, get physical, desolate and cr2. born in london but very well traveled, eric volta shot into the spotlight with love your illusion and since releases on dirtybird, visionquest, four:twenty recordings among others.

elastic dreams, a new label for 2011, bringing out no-hype, no bullshit, deep and warm electronics. music for the mind, as well as the feet, expect to hear techno, ambient, new-beat and other frequencies over coming releases with music coming from nyra, skudge, md2 and a sagittariun. debut release here from a sagittariun, with remixes from md2 aka mike dehnert. a sagittariun looks up to the constellations to bring the first release on elastic dreams the circle stops somewhere is a simple groove with a sweet and melodious synth riff that comes alive throughout the track, some have made comparisions to ames classic rej, whilst not really in that league, circle maintains the dynamic pace with powerful 909 patterns whilst keeping a nice warm analogue vibe. telepathic heights is a brooding, percussive experience with a growling bass riff and enveloping keys with sci-fi elements to its composition. md2 (aka mike dehnert/fachwerk) comes good on the remixes on the flip side. his mello mix is a disjointed and muscular groove that rips apart the original synth riff, and bends and warps it over solid md2 beats to make a real low-slung funky workout. md2s hard mix does what it says on the tin, a relentless bass booming groove and spongy use of the originals samples, this is md2 at his very best!

for its third release interstate records welcomes dold. throughout releases on polegroup, mindtrip or his very own imprint arsenik, the swedish producer has shaped a distinctive sound - raw, minimalistic yet warm and energetic. for ins003 he delivers two tracks. while the title track, “version”, demonstrates dold’s darker side, “rise and fall” bears a more hopeful tone. although the vibes are different, both tracks are driven by the same raw 909 - infused drums that have made dold one of the hottest swedish talents in the first place. as in previous releases, the two originals are accompanied by two remixes on the b-side. the first one comes from virgo and soma records protege slv. while focusing on the synth of the title track, smacking percussions and dark tribal sounds add a more punchy and energetic vibe to the original. klockworks affiliate newa, however, laid eyes on the pads and strings. through carrying “version” into slightly more playful and spheric worlds the georgian delivers an ideal closing to this records.

fans of electro’s big hitter djs such as helena hauff, dave clarke, umek, maceo plex, and umwelt won’t have escaped the sonic assaults of dutch artist rxmode and his fellow transhumanism collective members, w1b0, slaves of sinus, tfhats.
rxmode’s last ep cerberus was very much the ep he’d been building up to since his debut on bass agenda recordings back in 2015, dark, sinister, heavy, and distinctive.

mood hut is very pleased to present a new record by ian wyatt, performing under the name local artist. hes one of the co-founders of mood hut, and you may remember him from his music on the proibito and rhythm section record labels. you may also have checked out his releases under the moniker slow riffs, including the gong bath 12inch from 2015. this wonderful record can be played at any time of the day or night and is also a great thing to play in the home or in the club. drums, bass, keyboards, as well as other sounds and outboard effects (including delay) are all present. the artwork was done by logan sturrock and local artist.

another very special ep on al zanders a to z label teaming up this time with vocalist sheyi, for a one-off foray into broken beat territory. the story of its inspiration begins with a trip to notting hill record & tape exchange... after asking for some broken beat, the assistant ventured a withering opinion that -won t be monotonous enough, try the house music section instead- turns out it was phil asher of co-op fame - who, after establishing a genuine desire for said genre - sold al a bunch of west london music which became the influence for this ep. allowing sheyi to shine over a bare bones, syncopated rhythm track on the title cut and an equally stripped down satisfy al amps up the groove, with the g.i.t dub, which was made for ig culture s radio show. limited run on these - don t snooze !
